Creativity

With the many different forms of new media, it has allowed us to foster our creativity. With the ability to take HD videos, pictures, and edit them, we can generate an immense amount of creations, and share them online through different blogs, and media outlets. There are millions of videos uploaded to Youtube every day and there are many artists and talents discovered through various platforms like youtube, such as Instagram, personal blogs, and virtual worlds. It gives us a chance to form a community where we can express our feelings, share stories, adventures, tutorials, share talents we want others to embrace with us, and make a change we want to see in the world. An interesting article I read called, “Disney Tolerates a Rap Parody of its critters, but why?”, mentions the use of nickelodeon and Disney cartoon clips being combined together to make funny videos of the characters rapping hit rap songs, and the posting of them on Youtube. Although, people are taking snippets of animated movies and mashing them up with songs like “Crank That” by Soulja Boy,  Nickolodean find them humorous, and I personally think that’s a great way to look at it. On the other hand, Disney feels that any unauthorized use of Disney property is stealing and refused to comment on the “Crank That” mashup videos. I think this is harmless creative fun, that allows many laughs between communities on the internet and Disney shouldn’t feel any other way about it, because I don’t think the intention of these videos are to take credit for the cartoons, but rather to feed entertainment to youtube viewers.
