Social networking has become a modern day news, entertainment, and peer-interacting platform in society. The Millennial generation primarily, is one of the highest percentage of social media users all over the world. Social network content such as facebook, twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn etc. all allow for sharing of information, pictures, videos, job listings, and more. There are a great amount of benefits in using social networks because it allows people from all over to the world to stay connected with family, friends, and co-workers for professional or intimate purposes. Personally, I have interned at a corporate business who uses twitter, facebook, and instagram to market their events and has clients who pay them to market their events as well, and along side their website, they would post and hashtag events and that would create more followers and attendees. The article, “Social Networking Technology Boosts Job Recruiting by Frank Langfitt”, talks about a networking business website. LinkedIn, which “links” together students, manager, CEOs, and other professional figures in the business world, allowing for interactions between individuals that can possibly lead to job interviews, recruitments, and so forth.Although staying “connected” can be seen as a positive outcome, there are a great amount of dangers that can come from the Internet as well. As seen in the article, “Facebook Privacy Is So Confusing Even the Zuckerberg Family Photo Isn’t Private,” Randi Zuckerberg sent out a private picture to her friends and because of confusion accidentally shared the picture to the public and now it’s featured on twitter, buzzfeed, and other social media outlets. A law suit against someone sharing a picture shared on the internet Isn’t able to protect someone posting an intentional photograph on the internet and with this being said posting a wrong picture can ruin a job opportunity, or become a threat to self, as well as a politically incorrect statement which can spread like a forest fire on the internet, and cause negative publicity.
